Definate yes!

When SFS was little she had a Sect B that we did Open and MandM with, always hoped the first class was the MandM as straightening the mane between classes was a nightmare.

At one show we did the breed class in hand and then should have plaited for the LR but had qualified for the MandM in hand championship so just went ahead unplaited. Judge barely looked at pony and we stood bottom of the line.

Exception is shetlands who are never plaited:D

thatll be a no youll be relieved to hear as she is a sec b you show as to type and whatever class you do have no need to plait....only if you "change" her type and do a show hunter or show pony which you are perfectly entitled to do...if you want the faff!!

Sorry to disagree but if you enter a class you turnout to the classes, unless it is something like veteran, ex racer etc where type is correct. A lead rein pony is a show pony and should be turned out as such. A lead rein hunter pony has a different turnout as has a lead rein mountain and Moorland,

Colour coordinate with childs outfit!

I tended to go for navy skirt and vary jacket to tweed or navy according to class, shirt to match childs...fortunately mother dressing was not so professional in those days !

Agree with eml,

Welsh ponies are utility breeds. They should turn their hoof to whatever you want them to do.

If you have a welsh of whatever section, unless you are showing them in a Welsh breed class or M&M you can plait and turn them out like any other show pony.

Lead rein, first ridden not M&M I'd plait.

A friend has Welsh As, they are always plaited in driving classes as she is turning them out as driven ponies, not Welsh or M&M ponies as such.

Welsh cobs, fine to show them in a ridden M&M class with mane flying, but the minute you put them in a driven concours class or a ridden showing cass not specifically M&M, you'd plait.
