Right, I have a Thorowgood High Wither GP Saddle which fits Arion well, but the knee roll bit, which is a velcro attached block which is adjustable as in you can unstick it and move it around under the knee pad area, does not support my knees very well so they go too far forward and my legs go back too far and I am finding it quite difficult to make my legs be where they need to be in this saddle as in on the girth. In an Albion K2 jumping saddle, my legs are in the perfect position but this saddle has a nice thick knee roll which keeps my knees back hence my legs fall nicely onto the girth.

My question to you is this. What could I make or do with my current saddle to bulk out the knee roll more. I have been thinking about this all morning, maybe I could add something to the existing knee roll block to make it bigger?

Have a think and see if you can come up with any suggestions. I really do not want to buy a new saddle until Arion is built up a bit and I can get one fitted to him properly when he changes shape.

Move your stirrups back, as the positioning of the stirrup bars will actually be what is pulling your leg forwards. I have several thick hair ties on the bars of my saddle, and then the stirrup leathers go on right at the ends - literally. They don't fall off, and although they could do with going further back (which isn't possible, run out of stirrup bar) it makes life an awful lot easier.

You may be able to buy some larger blocks too, for example Wintec have several different styles, I know the dressage ones are quite large.

It could also be an opportunity to improve your security in the saddle. Knee rolls help, but you should be able to ride without them.
