'm looking at upgrading my sweet itch rug (currently using the rambo sweet itch hoody) and would appreciate some advise. I've looked at both websites and they both look good, so the question is which would you recommend - boett or snuggy hood? any experiences with either , good or bad i'd love to hear about them.

I’ve just bought our pony a Snuggy Hood one and like you upgraded from the Rambo one) and so far am very impressed with it. I really like the Velcro tail wrap under the tail flap which gives maximum protection to the tail and also the wide under belly cover. You can get additional legs covers and udder cover which are a good idea although I haven't got these.
You can also have a zip put in the neck cover so if you go for a Snuggy hoods one make sure you order it WITH a zip as I did and can’t think how you’d manage without it. Makes it so much easier.
I haven't tried a Boett but I hear they are good rugs too. I just have experience of the Snuggy hoods one and its all been good so far so I would definatly recommend them.
Hope this helps and if you need to know anything else just ask.

our pony on our yard has been wearing boet for the last 4 years now - before he started wearing one he had no mane and no tail, now he has more hair (m & T) than my horse  from what i can tell boets are indestructable and have worked miracles with our little spotty :)

One of our horses has a Boett which works very well. I did find it a bit tricky at first to put on/off but have got the hang of it now and it's easy! It works well and keeps the little beasties off her :)
Another pony has got a Snuggy Hoods on order which hopefully should be arriving any day but I haven't had any experience of it yet :o
Is there a large price difference, or are they roughly the same?

thanks fow the feedback guys. the price difference is about £40 more for the snuggy hood but it has a hood attached to the neck piece and the boett one doesn't so you are getting more rug for the money. my main concern with the boett is whether or not the elastic will go saggy after a few washes. the snuggy hoods rug looks to be made of more comfy looking material but its hard to tell without seeing them. I don't have this trouble choosing clothes for me!!!:D

the owner of our little pony has had the same Boet for 4 years and is always in and out of wash, still stretchy (this is the neck and tail cover one), she has just (year a go) upgraded to the full body one and that has been washed a couple of times and still looks brand new and super stretchy :) i think the material they are made from is light reflective even though dark coloured material and really hard wearing from what ive been told :)

I too have just had this dilemma!
I first purchased a Boett in August last year when my new horse developed the dreaded sweet itch. It almost instantly stopped the itch, a little confusing to put on first of all but now it is just as quick as a normal rug, however it did rub him a little around the chest and wither area and also inbetween his legs, this was solved by sewing fleece to the areas that rubbed.
After extensive research I have decided to go for the snuggyhood as this has a silky mane and shoulder protector and also no leg straps........just hope I have made the right decision?!!! Should be arriving soon, can let you know how we get on.

Also very very good is the DeMeulenkamp sold by Solva Icelandics www.solva-icelandics.co.uk which are similar to the Boetts but cost about £50 less. My first one is now three years old & has had a lot of wear but it's still in good condition. I had a slight problem with the one I just bought shrinking (only a little bit but I'd gone for a smaller size & it only just fitted to begin with) but when I phoned Mic & explained she was very helpful & it was quickly exchanged for a bigger one even though I'd customised it.
I really can't recommend them enough - a very good product & excellent service :D
