Thinking of entering daughter's loan pony in small local WHP classes but as I have never entered a show class in my life, I am anxious to get it right. I've just bought her a nice greeny-brown tweed jacket off ebay, and know that the pony has to be plaited, but that's about it! Will brown short boots be OK? Shirt and tie, or stock? He's got a nice jump on him and I'm not really worried about him jumping the fences, but what kind of thing is recommended for the individual ridden show, and are there any limitations on wht kind of bit/noseband you can have (he can be a bit strong so usually has either a grackle or a flash and a running martingale but I daresay we could risk an ordinary noseband if grackle/flash is frowned upon)?
Any advice welcome!!:):)

Sounds as if you have everything! Short brown boots are correct, brown gloves as well. Shirt and tie. In WHP pony can wear any suitable tack. In teh event of a close tie a judge may prefer a pony with less 'brakes' but basically most of the marks go for jumping and style while jumping (more forward than SJ but looking controlled), good conformation and movement are helpful but seldom a major issue at local level.

Have fun!

Ooh thanks for that! Feeling a bit more confident now - hadn't thought about the matching gloves but will make sure we have some plus a suitably discreet tie. It should be fun for them - quite looking forward to our first foray into the showing world!!

eml just said basically what i was going to say :)
for individual show i think what would be best (dont take my word for it, im not a showing expert) would be show walk, trot and canter on both reins and if she can then an extended canter (basically a short gallop) on one or both reins. i was watching showing nearly all day monday and you tend to find the bombproof horses who show extended canter aswell generally do better :)

Hmmm - I was wondering about showing a bit of a gallop. It will all depend on what mood he's in on the day - if he's chilled he will show a nice extended canter. Will have to do some practice before the day, I think! thanks for the advice.:)
