Those of you who show M&M/welsh (large) inhand and ridden, can i see your hacking jackets please?! i'm so indecisive  can't decide if i go plain (i.e. no overcheck or velvet collar) or go all out and buy a gorgeous red/yellow overcheck on green tweed with velvet embelishments that's a £200 price tag  tis for 'local' stuff but we are doing the NE showing champs qualifiers so has to be spot on for turnout.....

have a look here for a plethora of tweeds!

personally i think the loud overchecks are going to date very fast - they are trendy now but i suspect in a year or two they will be terribly last season dahling.

Keepers

I have to say, the overcheck is very much the nicer jacket. Both are pure HW wool jackets. The overcheck one was made by my Mum, I didn't want velvet on it. The keepers looks a bit bland I think, particularly as there's no colour to pick out with a tie, I went for gold because it seemed to be the best match, and against a yellow shirt that's a tad bland too.

It does as a spare (like last year when my boobs were too big for the first one) but if I have a permanant growth spurt, I would have another of the first jacket made, even down to the buttons. Maybe even I'd have velvet on this time, and I'd probably have it ever so slightly longer. The traditional cut of the keepers looks messy to me in comparison, but it took me a while to get used to the shorter jacket, it wasn't intentionally made short, just a bit of confusion resulting from using an American pattern!

it's interesting you say that, i was wondering if they were a bit of a fad? my OH (non horsey but likes to have an opinion!) prefers plain and has balked at some of the jackets i've looked at

daffy dilly, i actually quite like your keepers tweed. i also think the jacket mehitabel has on in the petal pics looks rather smart. so maybe plain is better?

That's a Caldene Belvoir, only set me back £80 brand new as I got staff discount at the time and managed to fit into a maids. I think it'd look better on a pony with a bit more colour, I tried to jazz it up with a red tie but it just didn't look right.

i have on with a velvet trim, and a 'not so bright' overcheck. its orange, blue and red lines, but they add interest and go together surprisingly well.
my mum has a plain jacket, that is a lighter brown colour and i dont like it as much as my green.
i wear a red tie (not very original...)

my dark green one? that was an olympia argain off the sale rail at alexander james. i do love it quite unreasonably considering it's just a coat.
