That if you went to buy a horse that was advertised as a riding horse, you wouldn't buy it until you have ridden it, or seen it ridden.

However, if someone tells you that a horse is a driving horse folk will swallow that one , hook , line and sinker! without having seen hi drive......why?

I have just seen an advert selling a horse as ride and drive, however they are pushing the fact that they are selling a "brood mare".....so why mention the ride and drive bit then???

I don't know? its just like the ads that say 'Gelding jumped 3'6, flying lead changes, blah, blah' but then say he can only be used as a companion horse as it has a bad leg injury and will never be sound???!

I must be a synic, I like to see the horse do what they can claim it can do, even when I viewed the youngstock when they said it can lead, I asked them to catch her in and lead her about for me ;)

Done here in Sussex, selling a ride and drive often devalues the horse. When I sold the cob people rang up and said oh hes driven. I supose hes strong and got a hard mouth then. Errr no and no. Auctually he is excelent on voice control alone and light as a feather in the mouth.

If I ring up about a Ride and driver, I can almost gaurentee they will tell me its not driven since they bought it but it drove in the last home.

Driving to me is a bonus.
