I had a real surprise when I went to see Jazzmyn this morning- Thurs/Fri my friend was checking her. She was healthy and full of beans but she is now peppered in white spots on her liver chesnut coat- across rump, shoulders back and neck .
Actually looks interesting on her colour- like a reverse appaloosa:rolleyes: I will post some pics when I get them off my phone.

I know it is vitiligo and nothing to worry about. She has no sarcoids but her pink muzzle is prone to sunburn.
I have read arabs can be affected. (and shires too). Could it be linked to a reccessive grey colour gene?

Could it be a reaction to having her rug off finally in this sun?
And does anyone else know more about this than me?
Many thanks for any info!

Doesn't Zara Phillips' Toytown have similar markings?

I heard from my yard owner she thought Toytown has the same condition. If it was a problem then from that it would be highlighted.

Vitiligo.
Vitiligo (vit-ill-EYE-go) is a pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes (the cells that make pigment) in the skin, the mucous membranes (tissues that line the inside of the mouth and nose and genital and rectal areas), and the retina (inner layer of the eyeball) are destroyed. As a result, white patches of skin appear on different parts of the body. The hair that grows in areas affected by Vitiligo usually turns white. There is no oil, herb, vitamin or moisturizer that has any proven beneficial result for Vitiligo. The closest natural "remedy" is celery as it contains psoralens that increase the skin's natural reaction to sunlight.

This is from a human site as an ad here!

Can not imagine feeding celery to Jazz!
