Has anyone tried NAF's new fly spray, NAF-Off Deet?
I used to use the pink NAF-Off spray, which I found fairly useless, but NAF are touting Deet as "the best" so I wondered if it was worth a try. I've just run out of Red Rum fly spray, which I have always found effective, but the flies seem to be used to it or something, as ten minutes after I spray it on, the horses are being harrassed by flying menaces again

You tried making your own at all ?
We are just trying out some new tags that normally used on cattle to keep away flys. So far so good and they meant to last up to 5 months

We bought some on holiday as we ran out of Phaser, and being as it's the deet version I thought it would stink to high heaven, like Phaser, but was pleasantly surprised, it hardly smells at all!
Haven't really noticed yet if it's effective, as not ridden when flies bad, but plan on riding tonight so if there's any flies, will check it out ;):)
We do make our own (citronella, vinegar, cold tea etc) but need stronger stuff when flies are really bad, and tend to use homemade for turnout/stable and the expensive, stronger stuff for lessons, shows etc, when flies can distract them and really become an issue.

I've bought some but am waiting til our current bottle of expensive spray(works pretty well) runs out before i try it.
It does say on the bottle that it repels "insect menaces" which sounded impressive and it does look very serious, i hope it works, because it wasnt cheap either!
i may try making my own yet. Lord knows we have enough empty bottles.
Our barn mates make their own i think they put lavender, lemon grass and citronella oils in it, ( i think) I will have to ask them if it works.

my friend tried naf deet last year and thought it was rubbish - i used phaser last year and it was pretty good, but I've got some barrier healthcare stuff this year and really rate it - they are still fly free a day, sometimes 2 later. gets shut of the midgey things too. very pleased.
also pleased with coopers but its pricey!

I used Coopers last year, cos Phaser used to knock me out & drove Etta mad too. Was going to try the DEET this year, cos like Roofio says, Coopers is expensive.
PS Roofio, what's the barrier healthcare stuff?

Barriers and Coopers are both good on my lot. The others I've tried had no effect at all, complete waste of money.
