Does anyone have any tips for stopping a fly rug rubbing my horses shoulders?
He has a Rambo Sweetitch Hoody this year which I LOVE so far - he lives out 24/7 so really needs it on as the midges bother him horribly at dawn and dusk otherwise - the only problem is it is rubbing his shoulders quite badly :(
Would he get too hot under an anti-rub vest at this time of year?

Rather than a vest, could you sew something non-slip to the fly sheet just where it rubs?

I have one of those too and am so pleased so far but I have been finding the rug has made coat dull - like split ends where there's been friction. I wish it was lined like the neck piece.

We've got bibs for our boys to stop them rubbing - not sure where the OH got them from but they weren't very expensive & seem to do the trick. They are a thin shiny material which just goes over the shoulders with a loop at the front/bottom which the rug front straps goes through. The shiny fabric seems to help with their coat too.
Edit: found where they came from it was http://www.bossysbibs.com/ came off my credit card as usual!

why not stitch some satin into the places where it rubs?

i use the bossybibs ones under my sweetitch hoody as well, i find them brilliant and very light weight, they come in white which for some reason i tend to think looks cooler than black, black just looks like it will make them hot !!no scientific though to this, just a personal feeling!!
