i am taking my mare to a few shows this year.
we are going to focus mainly on veteran and part bred mountain and moorland classes. when she is in hand i was thinking of using a while rope halter would this be appropriate?
when she is ridden she normally wears a 3 ring gag on the second ring. i was wondering what bit would be more suitable for the show ring? should i try a pelham?
also will she be able to wear a pretty brow band in these classes or not??

for your PB C it depends on how much of a PB she is ie. is she very much a native type? and of the turnout of the class - there are some that stipulate PBs must be shown unplaited eg. as similar to a pure breed and other that stipulate they must be plaited eg. as a more TB/riding pony type so you have to get the balance - it would look out of place to have a white halter on a plaited pony so in terms of getting show gear I would use a black in-hand bridle maybe with some nice brass buckles and a brass bit so you can use for whichever style class.
Couldn't comment about the foreign breeds - I'm guessing as close to their "home" tack as poss, so for an arab a tassled bridle or thin rolled leather with a chin chain. Do spanish horses have white leather bridles? Sure I've seem this before??

Pineapple -with your spanish boy (presuming an andalusian?) we had to show ares indouble bride -withcurb, judges tend to prefere the truely flamboyant curled tradional ones (i'll have a lookfor a pic) at higher levels. Inhand, at local your fine with whatever really, double or single bridle, not flat, but chunky. Mane loose not plaited, natural really. Tail not pulled just natural - tho neatened at end slightly.) I showed mine with a blue tweed jacket, hat, black trousers or beige jods with black long boots. Thats how i had mine anyway - we won so couldn't have been that bad :) !!

you can use a ridden bridle with the reins taken over the head (snaffle or pelham/double, dont use roundings)
she should be plaited, because she is pb there is no such thing as 'more' part bred or not unfortunately.
a pelham is common (thats what we show in) but depends what she goes well in, at local level if you have absolutely no control in any other bit then stick with the gag.
not sure about the browband, someone else will know...
