My OH said why don't I just flush the entry fee down the loo to save us a trip. I don't know why I don't just stick to dressage! But surely not ALL the horses will be nicer than this?

Well the judge was less than impressed last year. Ok, I admit I didn't give the best show as it was our first non-dressage attempt at anything. BUT I was far from the worst and I thought Lucy was more striking than many. I mean, I don't want to win ... but being the worst? Argh!!

how tall is she? and if it was a 'big' class your ventair hat would count against you unfortunatley.
and you should carry a short stick compared to a long schooling whip ;)
did she (honestly) go well, or was it rushed, or on wrong leg in canter.
dont get me wrong she is stunning, but its not all about their looks either as i find out occasionally with my stroppy welsh.
did the judge ride her or was it just judged from the ground?
good luck for this year anyway

That photo was taken at a smaller show where we came second *lol* ..
I totally agree it's not all about looks. Our show was not great (notlazy or rushed or anything, but she was still a bit unbalanced a year ago and got a bit confused about why the other horses were standing there watching her) ... BUT it wasn't completely rubbish and certainly no disaster. There were some in the class that napped towards the lined up horses and one that point blank refused to canter and bucked ... she came second to last just ahead of me ;). Judge didn't ride but we did trot up in hand after the ridden part (for which she was perfect I might add, unlike some others). I think it doesn't help that there the only others cob types in the class were proper little show cobs. All the warmblood types got placed first - I know that can be a preference ... hopefully a different judge this year?!?!.
To be fair we don't take showing seriously enough as are into our dressage, so I wonder if the judge can pick up on that? But I take it seriously enough that I DO have a new velvet w/ leather harness show hat!! *lol* Figured that would look nice in dressage as well, so that was my excuse. I have and use a show cane for "proper" classes like Saturday. Argh! I just don't want to be last again!!!
Lucy is 16.1 and there's no maxicob classes here :(.

Was going to go , but husband has not done brakes on trailer (grr ), and now weather forecast is foul.
Also dont really know what what class Blue could do, he looks like Lucy but grey,
only time he looks coloured is when hes wet, then he's piebald !
Was just going to take him to see how he behaved at a show.

We have a full box or I'd have offered to pick you up since it's on the way!
If he's a historical coloured then he can do the coloured class ... and it's raining on Saturday. I'm hoping that the rain will make all the fancy county people stay away so I don't come last LOL.

Didnt think of that, if I rode him there in the rain then he would be coloured.

Good luck-judge was blind last year :)
Was thinking of going but am being fair weather rider and wimping out! Also not much for kids to do (thats my excuse anyway!)
Fingers crossed that a) it doesnt rain and b) you have a more discerning judge this year!
