iev just sold my wintec on ebay - and discovered they have changed the rules and insist you use paypal now, which I refuse to:mad: thankfully the person who bought my saddle is happy to send a cheque.

Hey BW

Have used ad trader - old fav of mine.

Ebay - with paypal charges u need to add 4% not to loose and also costs of putting advert up etc i always seem to be giving the item at a discount lol

Not wanting to do auctions just literally want to sell them at what i bought them at as they have been sat in a couple of times and thats it. Dressage is literally new, one gp is used, other gp was a sheer bargain as looked like never sat on - no girth straps used etc. Which would normally retail at 600 so thought what i paid would get back as only had them 4 months?

worth checking the 'want it now' section of ebay and trawling the free ads for 'SC saddles wanted' if you google that it should throw up some adverts

If only they were 17" saddles.... damn my horse and his short back!

I advertised my fieldhouse on adtrader and equiads online - sadly no takers. Didn't get any takes on ebay either and ended up taking it to central and selling it to Jackie at a substantial loss!

How about admag or tackshop/feed merchant windows/notice boards, local equestrian centres, riding schools, local shows in the place where you enter for the classes.

I dont think you will get what you paid for them...they are still second hand no matter how little use they have had.

I would have definately been interested if my horse didnt have a super short back (17inch is too long :p)

Guess thats main problem need to advertise more england way as we don't have fitter in scotland so not many interested. Have spoken to all tack shops in area and none of them sell them be it not wanting to have them in stock or just not on their lists, so not sure adverts in those shops going to get much interest. but guess i can always try

I find the scs come up short as had 18 in them and got 17.5 in new saddle and holds my backside ten times better.

I bought them second hand for the prices quoted below and stored them for 4 months ahah i'll def not be reducing them thats for sure haha i know i'm chopping my Nose off to spite my face but selling my saddles previous to these to get these i lost a tonne of money doing so and wish i never had as they damn well fitted but one which i knew about. But for instance had 1k saddle and let it sell on ebay for 290 - not doing that again esp as teo of these are as new i didn't think they were priced that badly ?

Not trying sound out of order here but why sell your old saddle if it fitted  and aren't the sc saddles adjustable :confused:

They may well sell at that price if you persisted and wasn't in a rush to sell... maybe if you can write an ad up some of us newriders could post an advert in our local tack shops, ect..??

This is gonna be brief as i do not want this thread closed like my other because people take offense to my experiences and would rather i never spoke of them

Saddle co are adjustable - one reason i was happy to get them. We don't have a fitter in scotland tho so extremely difficult and costs to get sc fitters up from england. They in my eye seem to need more maintenance and due to this would rather not stick with them as i do not have a fitter at hand.

The way they had been fitted caused a bad reaction for my horse (rearing / refusing to move at all cept up) . fitted too wide and major pressure points on spine and pelvis and down on withers with padding etc. Had two other fitters reports since to confirm this. So have decided to sell up and start again with saddles i can get adjusted by people in scotland

to be honest i dont think there is much of a market for 2nd hand saddles unfortunately, and if there is it seems to be only if you are prepared to lose a lot of money.

To be quite honest; given what you have said, I would be persuing SC to get your money back on the SC saddles as they were sold not fit for purpose.

i'd try local tack shops, if they are a popular size/colour then they should sell fast. My ideals went within 3 days of me putting up adverts at a local shop :)

I was watching saddle-co saddles on e-bay for a while (have just bought one a month or so ago), and they seem to go for quite good money (I guess because they are adjustable) - compared to the fieldhouse GFS I sold 10 minutes ago for way under what it was worth . Someone got a bargain!

I too need to shift a 2nd hand saddle and I think if you have time then local free papers are the best option but they can take a while. But if like me u have bought a new one on yr credit card and the bill is coming in a couple of weeks ebay might be a good option!!!

I would put in a high enough starting price so you aren't making too big a loss and then if it doesn't sell the listing fees wont be too bad. Thats what i'm going to do anyway. :)

www.stabletalk.co.uk

See a lot of saddles come up on there - it might not be most effective, but it can be a little background ad whilst you are looking for somewhere else to advertise :)

I have always found that starting my auctions for 99p get loads of watchers and promotes a bidding war.

If you start from a higher price then browsers don't feel they could be getting a bargain and aren't interested even though my 99p auctions end at more than the starting price of the unsold correctly pitched items

With Ebay you should sell it quickly but you have to pay the price to list, sell and collect the money from Paypal. Or you can wait and sell elsewhere in the hope of making more.

I understand you are wanting to move these saddles on rather quickly but on ebay those saddles are each going for about £50-100 cheaper than the prices you are asking. I have been in a similar situation and in the end just to get rid of the saddle, I had to cut the price drastically. I sold it for HALF of what I paid and I'd sat in it twice (brand new when I bought it).

If you want to move the saddles on quite quickly, eBay is the easiest option, but like you say, does charge for the service. I would suggest reducing them all by £50 if you want them to move quickly. Especially the Verona models as they are second hand and part synthetic. I would actually say the Genoa is at a fair price.

Saddles are just more trouble than they are worth sometimes!

Oh I agree haha saddles seem to depreciate by looking at them :D

I thought genoa was fair – no marks and as new

One Verona gp again no marks but freaky immaculate, no sign of girth straps being used etc, panels unmarked looks a new can be. That’s the one I put as what I bought for £400.

Other Verona is used can tell used but still good nick.

I will review and drop were I think is reasonable then

What cracks me up is I never seem to get the bargains these people do when I sell items haha

I think you'll be lucky to get what you paid for them, unless you paid around the £250 for them.

Whack them on ebay or find a fitter close to you and tell them you have a couple to get rid of and would he/she sell them on for you. Never know.

I got rid of my one dead easy but that was through this forum.

Until yesterday when I bought my new saddle at a huge bargain I would have totally agreed with you.
It always seems that people can find these lovely items at really low prices, but then when it is your own turn to look, you can only find top price?!
I think because we aren't saddle fitters/dealers we just usually don't have the resources to demand a worthwhile price most of the time.

Horse and Hound does free online advertising for tack under £500. I've sold several saddles through there for myself and friends.
