Okay after reading another thread on here I am interested in what everyone thinks of Bags' workload.
Bramble is a 6yr old 14hh new forest mare, good conformation and has been gradually built up to this workload
Monday - day off (or light hack in walk/trot)
Tuesday - long drive (walk, trot and canter off road and on) 2hrs min
Wednesday - 1hrs schooling under saddle
Thursday - short drive (walk and trot) 20mins followed by 1/2hr cones practice in the school
Friday - Mid length drive (walk, trot and canter off and on road) 1hr
Saturday - Schooling 1hr or fun hack for a couple of hours (all gaits)
Sunday - long drive ( walk, trot and canter off road and on) 2hrs min
Keep in mind Bramble is readying for horse driving trials which include dressage, cones and obstacles (normally a long endurance course with it) she is in hard work IMO but gets fed accordingly, she lives out and when she is on road she trots mainly on the verges as I am very aware of tendon and feet damage from trotting on roads, her tack fits and cart is well balanced, she barely breaks a sweat now on the drives out, only the schooling seems to tax her fully.
