what advice can anyone give me..... my horses tail just seems to never grow, it just sits at the back of the knee's. Ive left it to grow for month's and nothing ive tried trimming it to see if that encourage growth but still nothing.
So does anyone know of anything that will help.

how often do you brush and what with?
just leave it tangled and messy out in the field and you will end up with a smashing mane and tail, they seem to sort it out for themselves.
do you wash it a lot aswell?

I dont wash it a lot about once every three weeks if that, i brush her mane and tail with a small childs hair brush once every day when she come's in from the field as i dont really like messy tails or manes.....
I'll see if i can get my hands on some hemp oil

Look at the Camarosa website, it seems very good, always see the ads in horsey mags as well. It is used for all sorts. I am going to try it this year when he rubs his tail away, but havent used it yet, but have heard from other people it is excellelnt for hair growth.

Unless it's breaking off or being rubbed off that's probably the length that it will grow no matter what you do. Some horses will be able to grow long, luxuriant manes and tails and others won't. It's the luck of the draw (and genetics) unfortunately.
In the meantime just take care of the tail that he's got (I like Eqyss or Alva Horse products best). You could try a tail bag from Eqyss which some people swear by.
Personally I wouldn't use camrosa on a tail, it's dreadful stuff. Several professionals and vets that I know say that they wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. They've been 'done' at least twice in the past by the advertising standards agency for misrepresentation of their product (saying that it didn't contain heavy metals for example).
It's like in humans, some of us can grow our hair long, others can't. We have to make the best of what we have :)

i wash JR's tail maybe twice a year when he has a bath, if that. His mane and tail hardly grow but i've noticed it has picked up since he's been on baileys lo-cal. I try not to brush it too much either to avoid breaking the hairs. Unfortunately i haven't worked out how to get him to stop scratching the top part when his coat is changing and rubbing that out
