No matter how many times I have the saddle readjusted, Woody's saddle always seems to 'come up' at the back and lower at the wither, so the end is higher than the front! (does that make sense?) after i have ridden.

it also slips back as well.

However he has some pretty funky conformation, that is not helped by longstanding muscle wastage (we are working on this)

i KNOW its not ideal, and does not subsitute a correctly fitting saddle, but is there anything i can use temporarily to correct this? I was thinking about a breastplate for the slipping back, but he has quite big shoulder movement. Would a type of prolite pad help to just readjust the balance of the saddle a little?

In an ideal situation, a well fitting saddle shouldn't need any padding, but in remedial cases like yours (ie when there's any muscle wastage involved) it can be useful as an interim measure.

Prolite now do adjustable front and back risers, so you can add and remove the shims as necessary.

Does the tree follow the contours of his back? Has it been fitted to be extra wide at the front? Mattes Equestrian do shimmable pads that you can shim front, middle and back that you may find handy whilst he is changing shape. :)
