i have just brought 2 kate negus bridles http://www.katenegus.com/. i have looked at heaps of other top name bridles and not been very impressed with the quality of leather. i am going to get 2 more for my youngsters. and the reins are so nice.

Jeffries or Stubben. Cannot fault either, i have a 15 year old jeffries bridle that's like new. Well worth investing in :)

Sabre (with crank) its is lush - coping really well, nice and comfy for pony, and leather is lush! The other i like is the Crosbys - had one for old horse - nice leather, nice styles.
Not a huge fan on jefferies - mums horse has one - its looking 'tatty' at the edges after 3yrs use.. Prehaps a new type of manufacture/materials from previous (eventerbabes).. was bought brand new, is now just abit tatty.. (gets cleaned once a week religously - stored in a bridle bag - and never lunged in, only ridden, 5/6 days a week, horse isn't allowed to rub in it etc so no idea why - unless jefferies had a bad day when mine was made!!)

Secon the Sabre bridle, have the Eton one. Looks nice on the traditional type of horse.

For your information and to help you make an informed choice, Heritage (supplied by snowhill and often sold on ebay ) and James Stirling (available through Shires) are bridles (as well as other items of saddlery) made up in India using Indian manufacturing techniques, Indian buckles and fittings and exported English leather. The retailers and wholesalers don't want you to know this information and sell the above mentioned makes using the words "English leather bridle" which it is but it's made up abroad, a HUGE difference and a clever but deceptive play on words. So think before you buy!
Go for a good English make if you can, you will pay more but you have English leather, English fittings and most importantly, English skilled Saddlers or leatherworkers making it.
