hi, everyone, just after a few suggestions here, my mare josie is fine in everyway, apart from being strong, ive only had her since just before xmas, and the only thing i find is that she doesnt mouth the bit at all, and i mean doesnt move her mouth at all, even little bits of drool run out and she doesnt bat an eyelid, i was just wondering if anyone has dealt with anything similar?? or if its anything to worry about?!, i ride her in a dutch gag on the mildest ring and use double reins for extra breaking if needed.
any suggestions??!

What joint is the gag? single?
As it is fairly unusual not to mouth the bit at all
Has she had her teeth checked in the last 6 months?

Perhaps try her in a bit made of warmer metal??
I have the opposite problem, my horse is 'very gobby' according to our RI!! But friends horse sounds just like yours, he doesn't mouth much and can set his jaw when schooling, and he drools all the time!!!

Alfie is in a JP loosering french snaffle and he loves mouthing/going onto the bit and working into an outline so don't really know what to say, like someone else suggested perhaps a different kind of metal, perhaps she would mouth a sweet iron more?
