Anyone use one? I have always looked at it and thought how comfy it looks, and now seriously considering getting one. I only go for slow and quite short hacks (my arthritis has flared up again) and currently use a 'standard' treeless, which is great, but would be nice to have something even simpler (Frayne is too round for bareback and I need the security of stirrups).

If your horse is wide, a cashel will make it wwwiiidde. There is a lot of foam and absolutely no twist. There is also a lot of foam under your leg so it can be hard to get your leg on. The stirrups rings are very forward. Often it squashes down on even flat withered horses too. I cut out a channel in it which relieved some pressure.

Because it is essentially a flat pad it can be quite rolly, never use one without a breastplate.

Im a fan of treeless, not a huge fan of the standard BF type treeless, but even less so of the Cashels, there is too many flaws with them.

Thanks for that - I definitely need to avoid them then!
