My 10 year old daughter who normally hunts has decided she wants to do sj at local shows. Her pony is 13hh welsh sec b cross. We went to a do a sj class on the weekend and because we were early she entered the equitation for a bit of a warm up.And to our shock she enjoyed it and came first.A few people said to her to have a go at showing him in ridden classes as they look good and work good together. But the thing is i aint got a clue what classes she could do.We dont mind if she had to do a little bit of jumping but no higher that 2 foot.
Please can anyone advise us of classes that she could do. and also how should the rider and ponie be turned out?

m&m part bred, pony should be plaited, and rider should ideally have a tweed jacket, jod boots and cream jods.
pony/riding club pony, a short individual show, and i small jump (usually only about 2ft cross pole or something)
working hunter, a course of rustic fences, and an individual show.
hope that helps a little :)

Is he a registered part bred? If not he can't go in part-bred classes.
If he is the lighter type of Sec B she could probably take him as a show pony and he should be able to do Show Hunter Pony (SHP) classes too. She might still be young enough for Cradle Stakes where the jumps are 2ft but I'm not sure.
Have you got a photo? :)

No dont give up,she sounds like she has a fab relationship with her pony and it would be a waste not to do the showing, its what i do with my youngster and we love it!!:D

no dont give up! its not all that complicated, really you generelly have to do the same thing in each ridden class, just walk trot and canter show, its just getting to know which class shes best suited to. :)

If he's a finer type then she can do all sorts, Riding Pony, Show Pony, Show Hunter Pony etc. - good luck! :D
