hi the pony im schooling at the minute goes on the wrong bend in trot and canter!she goes into an outline easily enough but is facing to the outisde!
ive tried having my outside rein loose and and gently squeezing more with my inside rein to encourage her to take the inside bend! ive also tried in and and off cones to get her to change bend she did this fine! so has anyone ideas what i need to do toett her on the correct bend?
thanks! xx

leg yielding? and spiral circles so she has to look round also very small circles in walk.
perhaps some shoulder in?
i think these should help ;)

It sounds like the pony is having difficulty with her balance. Try allowing her to go a bit more slowly round the bends, asking her gently to flex to the inside. You can try lifting your inside hand up and very slightly forward as you go into the bend to encourage her nose round to the inside.
Try and find a good instructor.

Hi, my mare does exactly the same thing!
I just relaxed and gave her subtle help for a start with light contact on the rein to keep her in the right place, but tried to to bother too much with the bend and let her balance herself and get settled. I then began to work on small circles where she had to bend and slowley made them bigger, although once she got back to the track she went back into the outside bend. at the start she skidded around the corners and refused to go into them but by the end she was going into them, i just had to keep the trot and canter collected, odd times she would skid around them but it really improved alot and now shes beginning to bend for herself around corners, althought still bent on the outside on the longside- although improved alot.
She still does it but i found this improved it and iv'e only had her three weeks today, I am going to start taking her to lessons now though where an instructor can help us out, so id reccomend getting an instructor aswell. :)
-hope it helped

don't just think about the horse, what are YOU doing to assist the bend? you should have your weight slightly into your inside seatbone, look over your inside shoulder to the top of the horses tail. THAT is how much 'twist' you should have in your shoulders. Open the inside hand if that helps at all. the suggested spirals and lateral work should also help. good luck :)
