Hi,

I have tried to search old posts for the answers I'm looking for, but am confuzzled (it really doesn't take much!)

I would like to take Echo to a couple of local shows this year, but have never shown in hand before. He is rising 3, approx 12.3hh dartmoor hill pony (gelding) Here are my questions :)

1. As he is not pure-bred, does he HAVE to be plaited? ( I do hope not, he has the thickest, curliest mane, would be a shame to have to pull/thin it for a couple of very low key shows)
2. Am in the process of bitting him, should he wear show halter, in-hand bridle or riding bridle?

All advice gratefully recieved!!:)

How much does he look like a dartmoor? At local level you will probably get away with turning out as an M&M if he looks reasonably dartmoorish!

If you havent got him bitted, wear a halter - if you have, an in hand bridle will do.

Just remember that showing is supposed (in inverted commas!) to be a fun outing for both horse and you, so don't feel you have to do anything out of your comfort zone to conform - but equally recognise you will be in it for experience rather than rosettes!

i would show him as a dartmoor (at local level, make sure they dont ask for registered numbers).
think everything else has been answered ;)
