My mum dyes her hair using L'Oreal (I think) dyes. These come with plastic gloves to put the dye in your hair with. However, one pair of gloves last 7-8 dyes so we save the gloves and take them down the yard.

They are brilliant! Great when washing down horses/bathing to keep hands dry (just dont plunge them too deep into the bucket!) and also a new use which I came up with today: Put them on over normal gloves to keep your hands dry when it rains!! No more opening the gate with gloved hands and getting a soaking wet glove.

However they do get quite wet, so scratching your face beomes quite unpleasant!

lol, thats a good idea! The gloves I bought are like swede and heavy duty, I love them! Their very thick! They did get kinda ruined from the rain, but I don't care they keep me warm and dry!

I have a large size pair of marigolds (washing up rubber gloves) down the stables in the winter. Fit over my small hands with gloves on a treat, and mean that I keep dry and warm for picking out feet, carrying/scrubbing water buckets etc. They cost less than a pound and last for ages. Does make it a bit fumbly for doing up buckles on headcollars though.

What other winter tips do other people have?
