I posted on here a while ago about my good doer starting box rest, well the fatty is starting to look a little too thinny! :o:rolleyes:

I know a lot of it is muscle loss, but i think she needs something a little extra. As she is on box rest, it needs to be very very non-heating!

So far she is on lo cal, and a scoop of good doer per feed. plus she is hayed 3x a day, enough to pretty much last til next hay time, although she has only just started to actually eat this, so i suspect that is partly responsible for weight loss.

I was thinking something fibre based, so she can have an extra trug of fibre at dinner, maybe with a handful of fibre pellet type things in her feed?

I seem to remember she is on box rest for a stress facture...if so I would have thought it beneficial to actually let her weight drop a little and build her up again later.

To be honest on box rest I would be upping the hay to keep her occupied and make sure she is getting sufficient mineral/vitamins perhaps with one of the many vitamin biscuits.

maybe millmix? then she'll have the fiber and pollard to keep the fat on her and it's not a heating up feed

Yes, it is a stress fracture. Eml, you are probably right, less weight is better, but i dont want her too too thin.
Anyway, I have brought some GrazeOn, so she is having an extra bowl of that in the evenings, plus ad lib hay (when she decides to actually eat it!)
