Sounds silly but are there any bits that would help calm a horse? My horse is very forward going so i was just wondering if there are any bits out there that help a horse to settle?

Hi!! :) My horse can be a bit of a looney :p But when we went to the Royal Welsh Show last year, we found a great type of bit called a "Myler" bit. You can get them in lots of different types that help all sorts of problems. They are quite expensive (ours was a basic snaffle and it costed around $63 without the curb chain :p) but do, do their job!! :) It would probably be a good idea to research into them, and ask an expert person for help - i can't remember the name of the person who helped us :p sorri, but i'm sure that if you look on the internet you'll find something about them!! :)
Hope that helps!!

(p.s They are very gentle and don't hurt the horse's mouth - they enourage them to salivate/froth, which is -as far as i'm aware- a sign that they have a soft mouth and that they accepct their bit :) )

any sweet metal mouthpiece (copper, sweet iron etc)

depends whether they like something to play around with (rollers) or if they want it simple and not fussy (straight bar snaffle)

He chews his bit a lot (he had his teeth checked in February so they are fine) and he has very good brakes if that helps?

I would agree with xloopylozzax ...copper is good. If you have rollers it is meant to make them back off the bit so they don't take hold of it.
