Thinking of putting my 15.1 tradditional cob who is now doing medium wok and 11hh retired laminitis prone welshy onto Baileys Lo Cal balancer. I am just giving the alfalfa at the momement, which seems quite a pointless exercise, I worry about there nutrient intakes. anyone had experienc of the costs? I have heard that balancers are expensive but last a long time. how long could I expect the bag to last?

i used blue chip original for a few months, £36-£40 per bag depending on where you are (i was charge £33 initially but its gone up since then) and it lasted a 14.2hh mare 40days and she was fed loads extra (recommended 350 - i was feeding 500)

We use top spec anti lam, it's about £28 bag I think. It can be fed to natives and good doers in the summer on half rations, so I ended up feeding about 3/4 rations all year round. I only have small ponies so it seems to last for ages!

For the laminitis prone welshy I would use Top Spec Anti-Lam which helps prevent laminitis and is a vitamin and mineral balancer. Thats what I use for mine. £14 for small plastic tub, last about 6 weeks. Just bought the 20kg for £28 to last all summer and autumn as well I hope. It is one of the cheapest and I know it works, because when I took mine off it, the farrier said he had blood in his feet again. So he will never go off it again. Winter or summer.

He only gets one teacup per day so it lasts forever.

I would feed (guessing their weight here!) about 1lb to your cob and 1/2lb to your pony per day. On this amount a bag would last about 44 days? It costs £20-25 per bag depending on were you are :) My horse has had more energy (not silly, just more go in him), his coat islovley and he seems more awake if you get me?

Char loves baileys local! it costs me £24 from locall feed store. Lasts her 5-6 weeks fed at 1/2 kg per day. She's 14.2hh.:)
