Oh good grief - I'm all nervous tonight about my horse coming home tomorrow. My mare was one of the ones attacked in Bonnybridge and tomorrow I'm bringing her home. Have missed her loads and because my old yard shut because of the attacks I'm taking her to a new one!!

I've always been either working livery or full livery but have now decided DIY is for me so I can nurse her myself with the help of the lovely people on the yard I'm going to.

I am seriously am s**t scared. I have never nursed a horse before with such injuries and tonight I just just want to run and hide :(

Take a notebook with you and write down all the instructions the vet gives you. I always forget what they've told me before they are out of the gate. Don't forget, she knows you and she will know you are doing things to help her even if it hurts.
Grit your teeth and once she's back, you'll be in fine.
You can do it. Don't be scared, and you can always 'post' if you have any queries.
Enjoy this special time together, because if you were bonded before, you be bound by the hip now.

First off I am pleassed that your mare has recovered enough to come home.

You will be great. You know your horse and she knows you. Your vet I am sure will only be a phone call away.

She'll just be happy to be back with her mum I bet :)

I am sorry to hear that your mare was attacked - it is any horse owner's wort nightmare, and I hope that she makes a full recovery, and that you manage not to worry to much - it must have been very traumatic, and really makes you think about the type of people that are wandering about:mad::confused:. Good luck!:)

I was so sorry to read about your horses attack and injury. Truly unbelievable that anyone could do that:mad: Wishing you all the best at your new yard and your horse a speedy recovery. I am originally from Larbert so I know your area fairly well.:)

Sending you and your mare the very best wishes for a quick recovery from such an horrendous ordeal. I'm sure you will cope fine with the nursing once you get into the swing of it and your poor mare will no doubt be so relieved to be back with you. I can't imagine what I'd be feeling in your shoes and really do wish both all the best.

That's great that she's coming home - I'm sure you'll both settle at your new yard.

I hope she makes a very speedy recovery and ditto Rabo's idea of writing all the vets instructions down.:)
