Shopping info: Picked up a couple of sports bra's from Matalan the other day for riding in. They were only £3 each & hold em in/up/still like scaffolding without leaving strap gouges on your shoulders. If you suffer from "the bounce" I can highly recommend them & at that price you can't go wrong.

I find one of those Danz-Ez (SP?) minimal bounce bras over another sports bra rounds them up and heads them in the right direction, (it's called the Sheepdog bra)

After a rather embarrassing 'double' effect when i forgot to change and wore a peephole to my lesson (:o!!!) i was forever careful and now either wear a body protector with an ordinary bra, or an ordinary bra with a sports one over the top - it's the only thng that seems to stop it! When i went on my diet i went down 5 sizes (woohoo i can actully wear ordinary range ones now!) but i still have to strap them down pretty tight :o! Might have to take a trip to Matalan :D!

i use running bras - not attractive & god i hope i never have to go to casualty but they keep everything in place - my big shopping find recently is boy cut seam free pants from Primark - 2 pairs for £4.00 & completely invisible even under light color jods & no painful seam digging in;);)

Asda do the same ones as Matalan, they're great! Much cheaper than my Berlei Shock Absorber

And ditto rubysmum about the Primark pants - someone on here recommended them and they're fab too! :D

I've never found one that stops you bouncing, as the bigger you go the less they squash you in and that's what you need when your fairly big busted.

I used to wear a normal bra and with sports bra on top that used to squash them in a bit lol

I think what you need is a something like a knee support but bigger for the boob area to compress them down

I've got the Matalan one too ~ brill for controlling the lay-dees!

I do always worry about having an accident though, as I'm sure the paramedic would think that I'm really an 80 year old granny in her "Cross your Heart", straps like ships rigging bra, and my great big belly & kidney warmer knickers, with a gusset like a beach towel!

I got the Title Nine Sports Bra, highly recommended on Oprah;). Go to the following web page and you will see "the last resort bra'- thats what I have-and believe me it is the last resort!!. You end up with a bit of a 'uni-boob' look but nothing bounces and I look smaller-chest-wise:). Your sportswear stores may carry them or order online. I bought mine in a Raquet store. Not cheap- $50 but you only need one and they are very hardy and strong..
Someone here said it looked like a protector vest-wouldn't that be great if they could do a 2 in one. ;)

I have one of these Enell sports bras which are supposed to keep you strapped in but I have to wear it with another bra and I'm still bouncing everywhere. If my legs were as bouncy as my chest, I'd be able to mount from the ground no problem at all:D My search for the industrial, 100% guaranteed not to move a mm riding bra continues.

I wouldn't wear them normally, let alone riding!
Wedddggggggiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeee :p

I wear the seamless boxers, really good but they do roll up and create worse VPL!

Clever me wore fluroscent green and orange boxers under cream jodhs once when it was raining. One of my better looks ;)

I didn't notice what size they went up to (sorry), I've got D's so they defo go up to that size. When mine were huge (ridden through 3 pregnancies & 3 lots of breastfeeding) I found Mothercare maternity bra's did the best job of holding them still.

Solo's Mum - I don't believe you can ride in a thong!!!!!! If I tried that it'd feel like doing a botty 1st death slide down a cheese wire

I always get the hard bras, not the soft ones, cause my little mans teeth are at boob height.

The first year we had him was very painful, but he's much better now, he was feral then.

Still wear the hard ones, just in case he regresses.

Often ride in shorts, but wouldn't try a thong.

Ha ha that's what I was thinking:p

I do sensible comfy undies for rides over 2 hours long - a thong over that distance would mean I'd have to move to a convent for a week;) As for the bra it's got to be underwired - or a back protector because lets face it, if they wold them in black velvet or red satin it would be called a corset:D

Lara - yes the horse . no more men for me.

Molly 34 - I call them hard, but you may not, they are about 1/4 inch thick foam, padded, type thing. Instead of the ones made from t-shirt material.

No I dont wear grazing buckets in my blouse???

I do however wear hat, body protector, two back braces, two knee braces with hinges, can just get boots on top. I look like the mitchelin man, especially in winter with a thick feather jacket, gloves and balaclava.

Pony cant bite anything on me in winter, it is the summer I worry about.

I am so uncomfortable, would definately not want to include a g string or thong, I wear granny pants under all that.

I made myself a dress which required me to have a waist so I made myself a steel-boned corset to a Victorian pattern. Once hubby had laced me in with his knee in my back, I discovered that I couldn't bend my back at all! Great, thought I, this will keep me nice and straight riding, so I gave it a go.

To paraphrase Billy Connolly, I will never forget, as long as my ar$e faces south, the feeling of the steel bones, stabbing my thigh as I tried to mount, then the utter agony of a horse deciding to bounce around, and I was getting stabbed in thighs, bum, under arms and shoulderblades! Do NOT try it, ladies. By the time I slithered to the ground and landed flat on my back, groaning when the knot in the laces decided to dig a hole in my spine, I was fit only for burial.

How the Victorians et al managed to ride sidesaddle wearing these contraptions is beyond my comprehension. Having said that, those who were watching me told me (once they'd stopped crying with laughter) that it did make my position look great, but the screams were rather distracting.

I would like to point out that I did have my normal riding stuff on top.

Years ago now I read a recommendation on these boards for a Triumph old ladies' bra called "Doreen". Up until then I had struggled to find a sports bra - indeed ANY bra which kept things where I wanted them and defeated the bounce without squashing me painfully. I am now thankful every time I canter for the person who recommended the Doreen. Gives you a good shape too, unlike your average sports bra.

The only thing I would say is "Look both ways when crossing the road" - you would not want Doctor Dish in A&E to have to see you in this bra.

I will second Henrietta's recommendation of the Triumph 'Doreen', with the straps hitched up good and tight. Also her recommendation to be very careful while crossing the road. I would actually advise carrying another bra with you so that in case of accident, you could change into something a little less geriatric while waiting for the ambulance/helicopter evacuation/emergency crew to arrive.

If - and it is unlikely - you feel the need for an even firmer hold, then you could put a sports bra one size too small over the top, or get someone tall dark and handsome to ride behind you on the same horse ...:D

I ride straight from work and have recently broken the wires on 3 bras by riding in them and ended up being stabbed by the ends, very painful. Bought a new sports bra from m&s 2 weeks ago, bit expensive but really good if you wear a larger size, it's also underwired.. It lifts and separates rather than pushing them together so you don't end up sweaty, much better for this hot weather and makes you look almost as if you have a normal bra on. It's the best I've found.

I third the suggestion for primarks seam free boypants. They are a blessing :) Well i must be the only b cup who gets bounce and i always wear a sports bra, i'm certainly not giving gravity a helping hand i can assure you :) Scaffolding all the way.
And the only time i got taken into hospital after a riding accident i couldnt have given a monkey what underwear i had on. I was more worried about dirtying their ambulance with my riding boots :o The men found it rather amusing and politely explained that a bit of mud was much more preferrable to a lot of blood everywhere. Plus i don't get fit doctors or anything

Have just found this thread, and the image in my head of trixie in her corset..........well would nearly pay money to have seen that.
All jokes aside I've found that with many sports bras for the "fuller figure", the shoulder straps give me gyp, so's I end up with sore shoulders and back pain. I wear a triumph sports which holds them quite still, but flat and is comfortable to wear.

Jut have to say for bigger busted gals i went into Bravissimo today (got a bit of a shock as i've been wearing a 32DD for 6months and i'm apparently actually a 32G :o!) and found some good non-wired sport bras in there specifically designed to support bigger boobs - was going to buy a couple but was too fascinated with their clothing range (it's inspired! I am presently wearing a shirt that actually fits all the way down - a size 8 'super curvy' - so size 8 short everywhere but the boobs which has a lot more room - no poppng buttons ever again :D!). After the other thread where the threat of underwired bras was highlighted i decided not to run the risk of riding in one when i could help it so took the opportunity to look around for a supportive bra forthe bigger bust and came across those. They aren't cheap but they are good quality and they do the job :).
