Hi, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a riding school near Birmingham or Halesowen in the West Midlands. (Or alternately, anywhere to avoid!)

I am an adult who is just starting out learning English riding, having been an intermediate-level Western rider in Canada.

I am looking for basic instruction, trail rides and a friendly atmosphere.

Thanks very much for any feedback! :)

Helen Blair has some very well schooled horses, North Worcs Equestrian Centre, Woodfield lane, Romsley, Nr Halesowen. I could PM her number to you if you want.

Seechem is another place which used to be good, but they are not so laid back there, bit more straight laced, but good horses and facilities.

The trail riding round Helen's place is brilliant, hardly any roads to go on at all, mostly hills and bridle ways.

If you drop in to see her tell her that hooligan from Shetland told you to sound her out!

Where do you live? I used to live not far from Bromsgrove.

Wally, thanks very much for your reply.

It would be great if you could PM me the number of Helen Blair.

I live in Edgbaston in Birmingham, and I work in Halesowen. I moved here a month ago from Vancouver, and so far it is great.

But I would love to get out of town a bit--the trail riding around Helen's sounds wonderful!

Thanks again. :)
