Hi guys,

I have just had this prescribed for my mare as she got 'stuck' in her first season and was struggling to come out of it (the vet thinks).

Was just wondering how other people work it through the summer bearing in mind a mare's cycle should be 22 days (15 days out of season & up to 7 days in season)-
- 15 days on regumate 7 days off & then repeat
- continuously on it
- other combinations

Was just wondering... my vet just said to stick her on it for 21 days and that would sort out any inbalances - but was wondering what others do. What have your experiences been?

Thanks,

Di

Just read on the Regumate website that they recommend:

15 days on Regumate
4 days off (natural diestress)
5 days off (natural oestres)

15 days on Regumate etc etc

Does anyone do this...?

It is a fairly powerful drug that needs careful handling! Rubber gloves at the least.

I used it for LR pony when daughter was young, basically we manipulated seasons around shows as she was a nightmare in season. Take your vets advice, it is not something to play with.

I've been prescribed Regumate for my NF pony Honey. The only instruction I got was to give it to her for 1 continual month. No breaks at all. After that we will re assess her for possibly a marble insertion or removal of her ovaries (YES she IS that bad!!! lol)
My pony is EVIL all the time due to ovarian problems

I am yet to start her with it but just wanted to wish you luck and I hope it works for you xxx
