As the title says i am treating my horse to a new bridle that will be used for schooling and competitions/ shows etc. That way his old one can have his other bit on for hacking, cross country etc etc.

His old bridle is a collegiate one and i am really disappointed with it- the black has rubbed off, it has broken on the cheek pieces many times and it is just not good- but it will do as a second bridle and spare!

So...what bridle do i get next?- the collegiate was not exactly cheap and given the other thread about the quality of Jeffries bridles now i don't know what to get

It needs to be a plain hunter style cavesson bridle (no flash noseband- why oh why does every bridle have one of these attached? No raised noseband either- it is for showing a cob!) preferably with reins too but not vital. I don't want to say money is no object but i would rather buy once and buy something quality than have it fall apart and have to keep buying things! It also needs to be black (i know show tack should be brown leather but he is a piebald and that just looks stoopid!)

Any suggestions and places to get it from would be wonderful!

i bought a IV horse bridle but found the sizing really weird. it could be because arabs do have strange sized heads but the throatlash was quite short in comparison to the very long cheek pieces. throatlash was on the 2nd or 3rd loosest hole, cheekpieces were on the tightest and still a bit loose  it may be suitable otherwise as it has the flat cavesson noseband and comes with reins (mine came with leather reins :D)

due to not being happy with the fit, i bought jeffries cheek pieces, head piece and browband (browband was free ;)) from ride away and i've not had any problems - sizings i checked with a measuring tape before buying and cob size was fine.

Kieffer, Sabre, Barnsby or Stubben for me.
Stubben bridles are probably about the best for what i want, (Kieffer seem to only do black leather :() but i do love Sabre. Can buy it in bits, so can buy each individual bit separate to own spec. :D
