View Full Version : Show report for Mrs P
Iron Maiden

Yesterday Mrs P went to one of our 'new' local riding club's shows for the first time. We did the novice working hunter, she was entered for the open but the heavens opened & it chucked it down, the field was v slippery in the wet so I didn't want to jump the bigger jumps. She went clear but came nowhere in the class - not surprising, she opened her gob, stuck her head in the air and was totally ignoring me when we did our display  Back to flatwork schooling for us! I was pleased with how she jumped though.
Then it stopped raining & we decided to have a go at the 2ft9 sj class, the sj field was flat so I didn't think the slippiness would be a problem if we trotted round the corners. She was fab! Jumped a lovely clear, then another clear in the jump off & came 2nd. Good girl Mrs P! :)
Here are some pix:
Looking clean-ish, she wouldn't stand still on the yard when I was trying to clean her up, so I thought aaaah rats to it! You can see the point in her mane where I just gave up bothering trying to plait because she's rubbed it :o

And here's the legendary yellow tail with orange highlights! Anyone got any ideas how to get it white? I've tried all the expensive hoss shampoos, washing up liquid, persil, clothing stain remover...

And here is Mrs P's jump off round - a bit distant, sorry! I was chuffed because she didn't look at any of the fillers, in fact she went over a water tray in the first round for the first time & didn't bat an eyelid!

So a successful day I think. Clever Mrs P :)

Aww well done. I wish my horse could drop back into a trot and then pick up canter again straight after the turning. Watched the vedio and both of you did great. I thought the tail was natural???!!!;) Sorry!!! I thought it was completely normal until you pointed it out. Oh well. Shame about it tipping it down. Well done to you both x x x

Well done Mrs. P - nice round in the jumping!

well done, have you tried the stuff you get to whiten net curtains? (glo- white)worked on a coloured cob we had for a while and his tail was awful.

God the tail thing really is an issue isnt it?? I wouldnt be surprised if his tail ended up looking like a curtain (joke!!!). It would be interesting though for you to get back to us on what product worked for the tail (that is if you have found a product yet). Good luck x x x

Is that the blue goo stuff? Tried that, didn't work  I'll have to check if Oxyclean contains peroxide, I don't want to risk getting anything irritating on her skin because she is v sensitive (aaah bless!) :p
I'm really proud of Mrs P. Next challenge - xc water schooling! :D

She looks fab, as usual! :D
Well done on your result, she really seems to take it all in her stride doesn't she? :)
As far as shiny-whites go, i have a grey here who has to be SPOTLESS for her polo matches (as they all do! ;)) and i find soda crystals and baby oil afterwards, work very well. The oil is good as even if you haven't quite got the stains out, it'll give it a sparkly shine that'll fool people into thinking you're a master of stain-related disguise!! :D

Oooh another thing to try! I've got heaps of baby oil & my plan is to slap it on to help keep P's tail clean. I just can't get it clean in the first place! Must do a Wilco trip & buy some soda crystals, Ariel liquid & net curtain whitener...;)

She lives with a load of Appys now, so maybe she can have random brown splodges & spots on her sides, brown legs from the knee down & a brown tail...;)

Looking great! Congrats!
Have you tried QuicSilver? If you leave it in for a fiew minutes it does a great job! (I use it on my horse's socks but my friend's horse turnsout amazingly white for shows!) It might take one or two applications before it gets better.
