View Full Version : How much dried mint?

Yesterday while stocking up on garlic granules we spotted bags of dried mint, no instructions on how much to feed so is it a pinch, a teaspoon or a tablespoon? We thought it would help the new boy's runny bottom... his droppings are firm but he squits occasionally and we can only put it down to stress (like very windy weather or having a chase around with his pals)

Thanks

i feed my youngster mint as a digestive aid (he's a bit colic prone, especially in the winter). we feed one wee 5g scoop a day :)

I bought the NAF stuff when trying to disguise a supplement. I can double check later but I am sure it was up to 20/25mls per day for a 500kg horse.

Thanks, so are we looking at a dessert spoon then do you think? He's 14.1, gets a couple of dessert spoons of garlic so one of mint should be about right?

i would say about 1-2 desert spoons, my mare loved it so she always got a bit more in her feed.. it smelled disguting though.. But as long as it made her happy :)

dried mint i have (gold label i think ... im such a cheapskate!) had a little measuring cup floating in it, so i used to put one of those in her feed. did it to disguise foultasting other supplements. didnt work, pony doesnt seem to like mint either

My Horse Herbal book recommends 50g per day of dried nettles, less fro fresh ones.
