what's your favourite jump sj?
mine has to be the ascending spread and the fan

I don't like jumps that don't seem to have enough poles, if you know what I mean, unless they're quite small. Anything that bit bigger (by which I mean anything over about 2'6") I like to look quite inviting - I too like the ascending speads. Least favourite - anything with a really in-your-face filler! Can't really comment on x-country because at the moment I've just started schooling over x-country and most of them make me feel sick!!:D But I think anything involving downhill, especially steps, would be enough to send me home with a bad case of hysterics!

white fences i hate them my mare doesnt the worst ive seen was at bold heath couple years ago it was good 3ft 6 and ther was two poles to the front and one back bar it looked awful they left gaps in between on purpose to catch you out then the next fence has fillers so as you towards the fence you saw white followed by multi colours !! as for cross country i hate them all lol

favourite SJ:
plain, simple uprights, no fillers, not too many poles (makes it look smaller in my eyes) 2nd/3rd parts of combinations - by that point i dont need to focus on steering as much just keeping him going forwards.

Least Favourite SJ:
Spreads, fillers, gates, water trays, anything with lots of poles.

Favourite XC:
Logs, steps (up or down, not too keen on steep downward steps)

Least favourite XC:
anything involving water, tyres or ditches, trakheners(sp?), drop fences, where we went XC schooling they had a horrible fence - tyres with a big log on top, then a ditch on the other side, with a drop :eek: murphy was not impressed to say the least

Don't really mind spreads jump better.. I suppose if I think about it in a 1.00m amateur class I fell off at a double because my horse slipped that was down hill the going was soft and it was oxer to upright which imo gives the horse more to think about than upright to oxer.. So any double on a downhill slope i'm not that keen on when the goings a bit soft!! I don't do much x~country anymore but years ago my pony landed on her knees after a drop fence it was a small log (about 2ft 3) into a 4ft leaf pit!! so any x~country fence with a big drop might worry me when I did my stage 3 we jumped a variety of x~country fences.. coffins, a water complex, steps, small drop fences, banks, trackaners spelling? (ditch with 3ft rail) non of which worried me..

ascending and fan type jumps, don't know why but I feel much more comfortable going over them.

Ski-jump - same idea as a fan type jump

downward steps - my last horse hated them and would launch himself off the edge usually resulting in me on the ground

uprights, even if theyre the same height as a spread i get scared

havent done many but anything uphill

umm i think theyre called ski jumps but after looking at the other posts i may be wrong, the ones where there's a jump which is over a slight drop so you kind of land downhill

Fave SJ= Any really....
Least fave SJ= single pole and single ground line on a high jump!

Fave XC= all of them!!! I love XC!!!! Corners are ace coz we fly them! water, logs, trakaners, ditches, tiger trap, walls, sharkes teeth, skinnys, ski jumps, houses, hedges etc etc!!! Love them all!!! :D

Quite like inviting spread fences, sturdy logs, also like downhill steps.

Anything uphill - I hate the moment when you are suspended in the air for a moment when you jump a biggish fence uphill. I always feel like we will drop staight down instead of carrying on over.
Also big corner spreads as I worry I will misjudge and jump where it is too wide.

I love triple bars!I like big uprights with water trays coz it makes the horse look at them and arch their back nicely!And combinations!

Stiles, rustics, water trays!, any jumps off related distances (strided perfectly to my pony, not seen very often :(), and oxers most of the time - I find them easier to see a stride off of

Water jumps, after being dumped at one and trampled :( Also doubles that are 1 and a half strides so you have to extend or shorten

Corners! I've never done one but I'm convinced that when I fianlly have to my pony will jump the widest part :p. Also bullfinches, keyholes and jumps in water
