I'm trying to find a new comfort bridle (with flash) for my boy but his head size is causing a bit of a problem. His head lengthwise (ie. ears to nose) is cob size but widthwise (round his throat and nose) is full size. I've now tried quite a few bridles on him and cob bridles don't fit round his nose but full sized ones are too long in cheek. Anyone know of any bridle makes which come in slightly smaller than usual? That way I could buy the full sized one but the cheek pieces would still have enough holes in them to fit his short head. Any suggestions? My budget is up to £150.

i have the same problem! so i have a mixture of bridles in one!! thais may not be helpful as you may want to find a bridle that actually fits and not buy 2 bridles! but i had to buy a cob size bridle and use the bits fron that that fitted then bought a full size in the same stye so they matched! :)

Barnsby comes up fairly small. Peri is an in between type as well and I found the full size to be more towards cob but still full size round about in the noseband.

Other option (but more expensive) is to get an Elevator bridle as they will mix and match to get you exactly the right size.

Zilco bridles, they are mostly Arab or TB sized which is between cob and full:)

You could buy full size then get separate cob size cheek pieces or get extra holes put in the long bits and some of the surplus length chopped off.

Quite a few saddlers also do mix and match sizes, it might be worth having a google.

I have similar issue and always buy my bridle in parts. I recently bought a comfort headpiece from: www.cotswoldsport.co.uk. They do really lovely leatherwork and very reasonable.

Lol, grab a full size, and punch holes to make it fit. :)

be aware that punching holes doesn't always work... as the cheek piece would then be creeping past the ear so no room for the browband.
