Hi All,

Had my second jumping lesson yesterday and all was going very well (was really pleased with myself!:D)

Was easily jumping 2 6 again with no problems, changed the rein onto the horses stiff side jumped a couple of times then.......

Made the jump fine but on landing the horse jarred her leg and spooked sideways with the speed and being unbalanced from landing the jump she went one way and I went another

Landed really hard and I've cracked the vertebrae just above my coccyx, tore my muscles in that area and Ive got whiplash... Am not a happy bunny.

Am in so much pain its unbelievable and I cant ride till the pain goes, been told it could take 6 weeks.

I hope you get to feeling better soon! :)

I know it's hard, but keep your spirits up; you'll be back in the saddle again before you know it. (Though the wait right now might seem like it'll last forever.)

Did you get the "this is going to hurt!" thought as you flew threw the air? I hope you have a speedy recovery, and get back in that saddle asap.

OMG Donna! Sending a big ((((hug)))) & either a virtual bottle of space out pain killers or bottle of vodka (take your pick but don't mix them!). Get well soon hun.

Bugger it - just mix them - you will feel virtually nothing:D

Have another hug xxx

Oh what the heck, pass some back over here & some to skippy's mum & we can all get spaced together. I'm stuck down here till all the snoring dies down upstairs (like trying to get to sleep in a tent at the end of runway 1 at heathrow with 3 of em at it up there plus the next door neighbours headboard banging away).

*Hugs* I came off twice in my lesson on Wednesday jumping too, I managed to get back on and I've bruised my knee, not nearly as impressive/painful as your one! Hope you feel better soon.

OUCH!!! :eek:You have my sympathy..I fell off first time riding a new horse (bucking bronco act-long story!)2 weeks ago, cracked ribs, gloriously bruised hip and and sooo fed up with not being able to sit/lie down comfortably or RIDE!!! Am sure I'm addicted to cocodamol but what the hell...it takes the edge off! Yours sounds even more painful...hope it gets better soon:)

Does make me wonder sometimes why we all have this crazy hobby - riding - when we know that sooner or later we are going to fall, and don't bounce like we used to!

I really feel for you, having had a number of injuries myself, and with Osteo-A now, not helping, but, there is nothing else I can think of which gives me more pleasure, in spite of the fear (and I have to admit, I am a nervous nellie at times) than riding my horse or my old riding-school horses.

I hope you are soon fully on the mend and riding again.

Positive vibes, and sympathy (((((((xxx))))))

I broke my coccyx when I got bucked off - it was very painful for several weeks, difficult to sit comfortably at work and of course got laughed at for having a 'broken bum bone':D You have my every sympathy (highly recommend a mix of ibuprofen and coproxamol/codydramol ;))

Hope you feel better and are back jumping soon :)

Get better soon...

Did you wear a body protector?? I thought that normally prevents such injuries??? Sh*t - I never think about stuff that can happen because I wear one... you got me all nervous now!!! :(

Blimey, that sounds very ouchy. I cracked my coccyx roller-skating many years ago. Hurts a lot. You were also very brave jumping so high so soon. Hope the self-medication kicks in for a good night's sleep!

Thanks everyone!

Gingerthing - Yes I have heard the comment and laughter about my broken bum bone - when I try to explain its a vertebrae ABOVE my coccyx I get told 'well its the same thing!' ( ibuprofen and dyhydracodine!)

Tasel - No I wasn't wearing a body protector (stupid stupid me) cause I'm 30 and invincible (well I was 2 weeks ago!) now I'm 30 and very breakable! So will def be wearing one from now on.....

Well my bruising is a gorgeous dirty yellow/blueish now so the backs of my arms look like they've never been washed for a week!

Ouch! Am sorry you got hurt..is no fun, I know.

Having first hand experiance coming off a horse awhile back....still healing from it.

Just becareful until you are fully healed!

Side note to being bored... I started painting again to help pass the time,, and in doing that found I became so focused that when I painted,, the pain lessened. Also got a lap top with a wiFi....between those and reading books.. it helped a lot. Hardest days where when it was nice out...to see the sunshine and not be able to go out. Sigh ~~
So find something you are interested in...it helps!
