Just come across this on ebay, has anyone tried one? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEXGEN-TREELESS-SADDLE-PAD-NUMNAH-FREE-UK-POSTAGE_W0QQitemZ110265714167QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item110265714167&_trkparms=72%3A981%7C39%3A1%7C65%3A12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1308
Looks pretty good, similar price to other treeless saddle pads, excellent feedback/reputable seller, would welcome opinions ... :)
Just found the manufacturer's website http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:oA6vUva-Go8J:www.nexgen.co.in/special-features.html+nexgen+treeless+saddle+pad&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=4&gl=uk&client=firefox-a

looks nice -- but you can get a barnsby grip pad for the same price--cheaper if you can get it from a shop rather than pay postage online
it's similar on the underside but also has 2 neoprene panels on the outside so is effectively double sided non slip--and it has a little sheepskin at the withers for comfort
so --- worth lookin around for the best price
good luck

Saw these at BETA - they're made in India and contrary to the claims, Latex is not breathable. It also crumbles over time when exposed to salty sweat and can smell funny when warm. I had a pad made with it many, many years ago and wouldn't have it again. Also, it tends to be "bouncy" which is not what you want.

For not much extra you could get an Equitex pad...much nicer! :)

That's most helpful, thank you all for your replies.
Can I ask one more ?:D What about this one ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=360015708213
So would a Barnsby Grip Pad be suitable to use under a treeless saddle ?

I am pretty sure that is just a numnah with non slip shelf liner sewn on to it:confused:

hi julia
yes you can use the barnsby grip under a treeless
i use one under my fhoenix and both me and ted really like it
i use a just-damp sponge after each ride to clean hairs off the underside --it goes in the washing machine now and again
it just feels secure-- which is what i needed

That's brill, ali thanks alot. I do actually already have a Barnsby grip pad but have only ever used it under a treed saddle, for some reason never occurred to me to use it under my treeless :o

Well its not actually mine but have borrowed my friend's Barefoot Cheyenne, I sold mine ONLY because I missed my knee rolls/blocks so much, got a Wintec Wide which isn't too bad (surprisingly) but now missing my treeless again ! Also my lad has put on weight - fatty bits behind the shoulder which he gets every year so am using the Cheyenne for now :)

I wouldn't recommend the barnsby grip pad under the cheyenne.
Barefoot now do 2 models with knee rolls, as do a lot of other models.:)

just out of curiosity --why not use a barnsby grip under the cheyenne?
it suits the fhoenix(in my opinion) but i wondered what the reason was that you wouldn't use it?
thanks

the fhoenix is a more structured saddle than the cheyenne, it has a large gullet and with a round horse only a thin saddle cloth is needed, in my opinion the cheyenne needs a treeless saddle pad as it is a less structurered saddle.

thanks n.a. i was curious is all-- fhoenix has the inner tree thingie at the cantle--that's what makes the difference --interesting

its not really the tree in the cantle, its the whole structure of the saddle, its more treed like than they cheyenne.
