Which is better topline conditioning mix or cubes?
I have been looking on the website and it says the cubes are barley free and the mix is oat free.
Also the mix has prebiotic and Yea sacc.
Cubes:

Mix:

Hmmmmmmm I am confused now, I don't know which one to get!
Ronnie is still lacking in condition and needs more protein to develop muscle.
Which one would be better?
I am buying a bag later so need your advice asap!

i have used the top line cubes, my mare really blossomed with them, i chose them as they are barley free as she fizzed on barley and not oats, some horses prefer a mix to a nut so depeds on your horse

I've used the cubes for years, they are great. Can't comment on the mix as I've never tried it.

Another vote for cubes if you're ever in doubt! They tend to be higher in fibre and lower in starch compared to mixes, and you can always add a digestive enhancer if you wish.

I always used the mix with great results, didn't fizz up my mare who gets hyper on cool mix. lol. Its more platable for a fussy feeder. I have never like cubes, i always think its the sweepings from the floor all compacted.lol.

I haven't got a bag yet didnt have time today will get a bag this week though.
How much is a bag anyway?
So are the cubes and mix pretty much the same kinda thing?

The mix has more ingredients tan the cubes and contains more oil which is good for weight building with the added benefit of having a prebiotic and soya oil. also the cubes have more digestable energy, so if your horse is prone to being excitable i would go for the mix.

Ok thats great, I think I shall go for the mix then! As she is rather forward going but needs more protien for topline and more condition!

Thats the way my mare is, it's a bit more expensive than your ordinary cool mix but it's designed so you feed less qauntity, a bag lasted me a week using 2 large scoops twice a day. They retail around £10- £11.50 for a bag, shop around an see wheres cheapest.
To give you an idea my mare went from this: brough back in after wintering out.

Wow and thats only in two months, that is great!
I am doing all the right work but she hasn't got the extra protein to develop the muscle yet.
The improvement in topline is amazing, thanks for sharing those pictures!

Another vote for cubes here. Mine is a fruit loop too on cool mix let alone any other mix so it's cubes all the way here!

my mare was on box rest for just over a month last year with a fracture of the Ileum wing of her hip. I understand that one of the problems with this type of fracture is keeping the weight on during box rest without the horse going out of it's mind due to feeding.
I fed her on topline cubes and chaff during this time, she kept her weight on and stayed wonderfully sane.
