hi have found these places, was wondering if anybody has ever used them or knows anything about them?
The Tack Man Saddler
Swithens Saddlery
or any other saddlers?
at the moment im just ringing round about prices etc. have spoken to throstle nest and hay farm so far. i will probably be looking at 2nd hand, but the prices are still a bit steep for what i can afford.
thanks:)
ETA- anybody heard of Caroline macarthy from preston?

Hi
Visit the website www.thetackmansaddler.co.uk, his name is Ray and you will find his address and tele no. He is really good but expensive but I am very impressed with the service that he gives. (950.00 for a full leather gp). Quite a few people have brought these saddles on the yard where my horse is stabled. The saddle is made by a company called uk saddles and you can visit their site www.uksaddlesltd.com and they are made by adam ellis. They are a society of master saddlers and this is stamped on the underside of the saddle flap with its own unique number.
I have had a lot of problems with the scs that I have hence why I went to this guy after seeing one been made and watching the person ride.
If its any help maybe we can arrange to meet up so that you can look at the saddle if to want so that you can see the qaulity of the saddle from ray
Happy surfing

from experience R&R are expensive and dont have many saddles.
moody mares has loads of saddles new and second hand and are quite resonable price. decent saddles and very helpful staff, we would definitely buy from there again.
(god bet you think i work for MM!)

i have used the tack man in the past , ok but i can think of better , he did some repairs for me but the stitching on one saddle didn't even last 12 months , he is , or was mobile & comes out with a fully kitted out van , tried flogging me a second hand saddle whilst he was there , but imo a bit expensive , a few years ago though
think caroline macarthy may be a member of master saddlers , you can check on their website ,

Thanks, caroline is sounding like my best bet at the moment, shes fitted all the saddles on my friends yard and seems to have made a good job. At only £530 for an almost new saddle with all the fitting etc. she seems very reasonable.

the tack man is ray kennan, he, did a lot of saddlery work for me at the royal armouries museum in leeds, and he is based on harvey smiths yard at bingley, he lives in leeds and will travel to your yard, not the cheapest but you get expertise and some good horse stories,
