I am going to go bareback riding for the first time this weekend and I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to ride. Can I still post when trotting? What should I do with my legs? Thanks! -Tasha

you can still post bareback at the trot, but the horse will not like it as sometimes you can tend to dig in with your knees when posting bareback or no stirrups. Just get your balance, and if you feel like you're gonna fall off, grab mane. Don't lean, don't slouch, everything you do without stirrups applies to bareback.

Put a neck strap on your horse if you're a little nervous, stirrup leathers are good for this ;)

Keep you legs down and stay upright. I have fallen of before from bringing my legs up and leaning forward.

Don't panic. Trotting will seem bouncy at first but if you panic and grip with your legs then you will bounce even more and you could fall off (I'm speaking from experience :D). Just keep your legs long and relaxed. It takes a little bit of getting used to but after a while it's loads of fun and I definitely prefer it to riding with a saddle! Have fun :D!
