broken skin

Yesterday whilst grooming jasp i noticed on his cheek he felt scabby - as i touched the scabs they fell off - along with his hair :eek:, the scabs were actually like crystalised (weepy fluid), when i had a closer inspection of the skin (hair had fallen out 50p sized area), it looked broken soar and oozy :confused: i washed with Hibi and applied antiseptic cream - has any one experienced this and does anyone know what it could be ?

when i check him tonight if its still bad i shall be ringing the vet.

Could he have had an allergic reaction to something, and it's getting better but the scabs are coming off? Is it under where his cheekpieces go? I'm thinking new headcollar - or washed one, new tack cleaner?? Or could he have been bitten?

Sounds like you are doing the right things.

its odd because - throatlash nor head collar touches it - he cant rub on anything in the field and i never clean tack :confused::p i will get some photos later - its really grose looking , i reccon your probablly rigt about being bitten :rolleyes::o
