The time has come to cough up and spend out on a new saddle for my young cob... it will be fitted by a saddler...

Both similar pricing, both available in brown!

Which one is best?!

and who do you recommend as a saddle fitter that would come to a yard in Ely, Cambs?

thanks :D

I have a wintec wide but have tried the T4 and there is no comparison. The wintec is far better made and I found the T4 pinched my mare and made her very uncomfortable. I have the wintec with CAIR and love it, so does Kinzzy! Good luck, happy shopping! :D

I agree, I tried both, the T4 was awful, not comfy, poor fit etc, I sold it as soon as I could. By comparison, the Wintec Wide fitted my lad perfectly and is surprisingly comfy.

I am going to be different and go for the T4.

Tried a Wintec and Tyler hated it. We had the full head toss and issues with moving. The T4 fitted perfectly and I have found it comfy for myself.

Quite a few other people love it as well, with consideration being put towards getting a T6 :)

I don't have a cob, but I have wintec saddles for both of my girls. one is a 17hh TB/IDX and the other 16.1hh MW crossbreed and they fit beautifully and I find them comfortable too.

I am looking at these at the moment and a friend who is an independent saddle fitter said the thoroughgood tree fits flat backs better than the wintec??

I had the wintec with cair but on my flat backed cob it felt as though i had lots of saddle behind my back but hardly any to sit on

the thorogood felt a lot lot better, but i still wasn't keen (however my friend loves riding him with it much more than the wintec)

i then bought a treeless saddle and love it. much more comfy for rider and his table top back.

as i'm selling him though i am keeping the treeless and have just bought another t4 to go with him

I have a wintec wide and have no complaints, never had a problem..very comfortable and they are slightly straighter cut flaps than the 500GP so tend to favour the bigger shoulder of a cob. You can use the two widest gullets from the other saddles too.. not just the three ultra wide ones that it comes with.

I have just gone treeless (and adore it) so am selling my wintec wide:). Its 18" brown and immaculate (with cair). Just if you are interested:).

Although it was fine on Arnie, it just didnt really fit me. I am long in the leg and it is slightly straighter cut than my other wintec had been. Arnie is very short backed and really could have been doing with a smaller size but I needed the 18" so it was a bit of a compromise for us both.

I finally decided to take the plunge and go treeless and so far so very very good.

If you are interested in it, PM me.

Regardless of that, I have to say the wintec is beautifully made and as synthetic saddles go, its really good quality - and fairly easy to change the gullets on although I always needed a second pair of hands to help me put the widest one in.

I have a T4, its alot more comfortable since I broke it in, felt like a plank of wood at first. Horse goes well in it, only problem I have with it is the finish is nowhere near as good as the griffin. Where the plastic edges eg. the edge of the saddle flap are on the griffin, they were turned over and stitched nice and neat. The T4 just looks as though they have been cut and are not finished at all.
