View Full Version : Bridle leather - worn noseband

I have a lovely bridle that someone gave to me - the leather is soft and supple, and it is unusual as it has a brass clincher browband and brass buckles.
However, the front of the noseband has worn, and the brown colour of the leather is coming through where the black dye is wearing off.
Is there anything I can do? It is only an "everyday" bridle, but it would be nice to smarten it up a bit. :)

You can get this stuff called Magic Black, its made by Gold Label. It is a blackener for leather. I had the same problem with a noseband of mine and I put this stuff on and it looked good as new.It comes in a little bottle with a sponge on the top to apply it with. You should be able to get it from most tack shops I think or from here: (about 4th one down the page)

Its only about £2.50! So bargain!
Hope this helps

Oooh Hannah, you are brilliant! Thanks so much. I tried the bridle on my mare today and it fits her quite nicely, so will be good for everyday use. But will look so much nicer if I can blacken up the faded parts. :D
Thank you! ;)

Tuxan boot polish has a dye in it, so that might help to put a surface back on it again.
