EDIT: Meant to say Advise, sorry!

I have an intensely cheese-gratery bum  So after about 45 minutes in the saddle it feels like my bum bones are slowly retracting into my body  Hence I've decided to invest in a seat saver.

Basically, my question is what material? Fur, sheepskin, suede, gel? Comfier the better!

And would I have any problems with slipping/would it be too much fuss to take it off/put it back on again - and so be better getting some of those oh so sexy padded pants? (Not my saddle!) Plussss....does suede offer any 'grippiness' to cope with shenanigans? (Not that we have many, and I have a fairly good seat anyway, but every little helps!

Thanks in advance!

padded pants make you feel like you are wearing a nappy!

gel seatsavers dont work as you can feel the saddle through the gel after a while.

fake fur are pretty useless as well.

sheepskin are nice, keep your bum warm in winter.

hm suede ones are nice as well, although can be hard in winter.

Hi, I have recently bought the Roma (weatherbeeta) merino wool seat saver from equestrian clearance less than £20 inc postage and its absolutely fantastic. Doesnt slip at all, my butt doesnt move and so so soft and comfy, cant recommend it enough. I tried a synthetic one and that was awful but havent tried the HM

I had a memory foam and suede seat saver (but not HM) and it was great. I did try a fleecy seat saver, but it slipped when I was mounting and I ended up sitting on the side of a bucking horse, with one leg stuck over the saddle! Fortunately, one buck unstuck me and as I was pinged into the air, I managed to come down in the saddle and take up my stirrups, but to this day I have no idea how I managed it. So I don't rate fleecy ones at all!

Heather M's seatbone saver. Incredibley soft and comfy - gives you a good seat in the saddle too. Expensive, but you definitely get value for money.

I would like £30 ono for it, plus postage. Must sell some stuff as I am moving soon!

i had a HM seat saver and gave it away - i hated it - felt like i was balancing on top of the yellow pages and wasnt doing me @rse any favours - in the end i bought a Nu-med one and it is fabulous really cosy ;) i think its deffinately trial and error in this sonario, you'll have to try them out and see what works best for your bum ;):D
