Kira needs weight gain (not masses but she is slightly underweight as she is a stressy type) she is on ad lib hay and out from 7-5 on reasonable grazing.

She is only three so is still growing which does not help with her look, all wormed and checked up to date no probs.

She does fizz up on mixes and topline conditioning cubes sent her crazy  any suggestions of something low sugar but weight gaining?

I swear by Calm & Condition. Because it's a pelleted feed and not a mix, it contains less starch which can cause fizzy behaviour, and it doesn't contain any barley, and has soya and linseed oils which made his coat really glossy as well as putting some weight on him. It worked really well for us, and didn't heat him up at all. :) In fact, it's so good that now he's up to his ideal weight, I'm going to have to think about changing to something else to maintain him, as even at their lowest recommended serving, he's still putting weight on!

a&p calm and condition - this fairly put weight on our poor doer with no (extra)fizziness
Also Harbro does pure soya mash - great for an extra bit of condition and shine(and costs much less than outshine).

Have you tried Blue Chip it is expensive but use you hardly any so lasts ages if you go on there website it tells you all about what it does.

you can then add this to what ever feed to choose to feed her

I give Pablo the Blue Chip lami Light (hes a good doer) and I love it its good for his hooves coat skin digestion etc and it has helped him gain muscle

I would give it a go if i was you :D

If you can get hold of simple systems feeds, they do Instant Linseed. I bought mine off ebay from barefoot basics :)

Dengie Alf Alpha Oil. Oil's so good for weight gain - if you search any ESPM threads this is what is fed as ESPM horses find weight gain difficult and arent fed starch/sugars (someone can confirm this fo rme though;)).

The calm and condition is a weird feed...ask **gerygurlie** about her experience!

I do a lovely mix of linseed and fenugreek called Herbal Gain:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Herbal-Gain-linseed-fenugreek-weight-condition_W0QQitemZ230255986123QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item230255986123&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318

I also sell just the micronised linseed and brewers yeast which can be good for weight gain without the fizz. My Herbal Shine (linseed/seaweed/mint/brewers yeast) gives a good range of vitamins and minerals, and Herbal Gain can be added to give extra condition.

If buying 2 or more packs, the maximum postage rate is better on my website:

- particularly this page:

Hope this helps!

Fab! I'll no doubt be ordering some linseed from you when I run out of my current bag. It's a bit of a pain getting it here as no feed shops do it, so I appreciate offers on postage, since the postage can end up being more than the actual product! :)

i was recommended a feed called Frickers, works a treat with mine who lost weight over winter, old and young, didnt fizz them up at all, they have Fickers, speedy beet. mixed flakes, honey and carrot chaf, garlic powder, mint and cod liver oil and they are all fine
