might not sound like much -- but i am well chuffed
on boxing day my treeless slipped and i fell off ted--resulting in a fractured spine
went back to work after 5 weeks , but back pain began to get worse and worse--ended up back in hosp with elevated potassium levels in blood (doesn't sound like much at all -- but it is a really big deal -67% mortality rate if you have the levels i was suffering!!)
since recovering a bit from this --been off work since march--i've seen ted and tried riding a few times but just didn't feel safe so have only been on board 10 mins walking at a time
i bought a barnsby grip pad --still unsure
i bought a barnsby comfort girth --still unsure
and at the yorkshire show i splashed out on a breast plate called the kolibri from devoucoux -- after earwigging on a conversation-- and i love it
fitted it today -- and in combination with all the other stuff i actually felt i could trust the saddle !! wooohooo----!!!!
went out for hack (just a short one) and CANTERED wooohoo--only 2 short bursts---but I DID IT
me and ted are an item again:)

thanks peeps:)
i rode him again on sunday -- we did a longer ride of walks and trots only -- teds fave pace is trotting and he can do it at low or high speed for ages
was so nice to ave a weekend of actually riding --felt like i'd done something good for me
but saturday night i was real poorly -- a bit of a turn that lasted hours and hours--thought i was going to have to ring emergency doc at one time
and sunday i woke up in the wee small hours feeling a bit rough again
had to see doc today re sicknote and he reckons just a hiccup and not to worry -- hope he's right - have had bloodtests again today so should find out if bloods ok tomorrow -- that'll reassure me that i'm still on the mend
4 more weeks off-- and i'm going back to work on 13th august come hell or high water --i want my life back !!!!!!!!
riding this weekend has showed me that i've missed too much and i have to
do it again and again
so keep your fingers crossed that endocrine results are good and that i can return to normal life soon please --- i am sooooooo fed up and bored (though i think that's good in one way --- in march i was too weak to be bored and spent all my time in bed asleep !! so it's a def improvement)
miriam---soon as i get the chance we'll have to have a meet again -- with floras mam hopefully -- i'm not at cocken any more though--am back at new hartley where ted has settled into a field with equine company -- which he had been missing for 8 months or so -- he is much happier:):):)

great to hear ali cat - been thinking about you since your accident - sounds a bit similar to mine in feb 2007 which meant far too much time out of the saddle.
lovely stuff about you and ft - onwards!

You'll be lucky with the weather we seem to be having at the moment :D

thanks for good wishes everyone:)
bbq sounds good to me --just need to get this weather sorted --or a bloomin big tarpaulin!
new yard is in north tyneside miriam--near seaton delaval--it's where i bought ted from and he stayed there his first 2 years
he is now sharing a field with one mare and 3 other geldings---and only one of them was a stranger to him
the mare belongs to bestest pal -- and she is boss of the field(mare not pal that is) ---at one time tilly and ted were in a field of their own for 18 months or so---when ted returned she glanced at him --- and carried on eating -- but he knew he had to behave or she'd discipline him
body language in horses speaks volumes :) they seem to be a very settled group and he is out 24/7 which chills him completely

this was last week
me and dallas rode out --then lee and kat rode them
on return to yard they had a good groom, fly spray, suntan cream, hooves picked and oiled and a wee feed-- in these pics they are relaxed and ready to go back into field to do what they do best --grazing:)
thats all they have to do for a week before they get any type of work
