Seems a funny question to be asking in July, but what weight rugs have you got on at the moment?
The weather really has been going from one extreme to another! Raining then sunny!
Ronnie has a lightweight with no fill on and has had it on for about two weeks now.
My friend has put a medium weight on her horse which I thought was a bit extreme but the temperatures have dropped now and its constantly raining or is windy!
What about you guys?

Forest had a lightweight rug on recently and when it got cold I considered either a middleweight or stabling him, but luckily it warmed up so he went out with a lightweight on and hes now out without one as we are only get occasional showers now. :D

My TB is out in a LW rainsheet with no fill. I would have him out without, but it's expected to rain tonight and tomorrow and I have nowhere to dry him off to ride.
My middleweight rug is my autumn, winter and early spring rug. It only gets unpacked when it's wet, wild and I think it's cold enough for me to wear a coat AND jumper ;) (I normally don't wear a coat OR jumper at the field between April and October, just a T-shirt and gillet, so it has to be pretty cold to warrent both).
I'm a mean Mummy, or so say some of the liveries at our old yard as they crack out the middleweights for their natives and cobs over a bit of drizzle, but Salsa has a fur coat and is always warm when I check him, so I'd rather keep his warmer rugs for when he really needs them and will feel the benefit.

My TB has a lightweight with no fill,
my pony the same, although we tend to leave him naked if the rain isnt going to be too harsh.

In evenings (except tonight - he was looking bit chubby thought he could do with shivering off some calories) 40g prem equine liteweight, sometimes a flyrug during the day if there isn't a breeze.

Well I'm still comfortable wearing just t-shirts even in the rain and wind, so I don't see why my share horse needs to be rugged. She is perfectly happy without

Vel has a LW rug on, no fill, I bought a medium weight the other day, but am gonna try not put it on him till it turns a lot colder. Im in Shetland so the temp can go quite low but Vel seems quite happy in his lightweight

I think if Ronnie was up to weight and hardier she wouldn't have a rug on.
Looks rather sunny today I shall be leaving her rug off

Tyler is as naked as the day he was born - apart from the layer of mud he collects on a daily basis.
The YO has been putting the horses out with no rugs for a few months now. Tyler definately prefers it that way. Kinda makes me upset when I think about the money I spent on rugs

Would you believe it was 7c here in sunny East Anglia last night?
Ridiculous. Madame is naked and shivering off the excess fat she gained from the lush spring grass we had (back when it WAS warm!)

Don't have any rugs on at this time of the year. I read somewhere that rugging them up too often makes them deficient in vitamin D, which they can only make from absorbing sun light and they need this vitamin to keep teeth and bones healthy, so the more they can have their bodies exposed to the sun, the better.
