question is in the title. My lovely shiny new saddle could be doing with a clean and I'm not quite sure what the best way is to go about it. I've got the nikwax aqueous wax as recommended to waterproof it but I dont know if I should put it on then use saddle soap or saddle soap first. Or no saddle soap. (starting to remember why I loved synthetic:D)

To all you Freeform owners out there - help:D

I just used spray saddle soap on mine, making sure I sprayed it on the cloth and not the saddle as it can leave marks on the leather.

If you use glycerine soap, use sparlingly and not often. Over time (particularly with these softer leathers) it can actually swell and weaken the leather fibres because glycerine is a humecant, i.e it holds/attracts moisture - great for living skin but not so great for leather.

Usually, just a wipe over with a damp cloth followed by some leather conditioner is sufficient. If you want to proof it with the aqueous wax, wipe over with damp cloth, apply that and leave a for a few minutes then buff off.

The softness of the Freeform leather means it doesn't need anything in excess and definitly no oiling. My personal leather conditioner is Effax leather balsam - I am still using an 8 year old tub though almost finished. HTH
