I have a new sharer for my mare, who loves jumping. She's taking her in to a comp in a week or so, and so we had a practice session tonight. I put the jumps up, as I am very wussy when it comes to jumping.
By the end of the session Cariad was clearing 3' 6" with ease. She looked fabulous soaring over the jumps.
Wish I had remembered my camera - and wish I was braver at jumping. Has anyone managed to overcome a fear of jumping more than 2'? I am hoping by watching them it might make me a little braver. :o

i had the exact same problem this time last year i had jumped up to 1m45 and started to get scared of tiny cross poles for no reason,i had had a bad fall a few years ago and it was still makin me nervous,
i bought my first horse an exracer this time last year he didnt have a clue how to jump and it was up to me to teach him,i worked on his flatwork for months and when we started to jump i took it so slow,to make sure we had confidence for his sake and mine,of course we had hicupps but i have a great instructor who helps me and him and we now jump 3foot together without batting an eyelid,i would recommend get yourself a great instructor spend time building your confidence making jumping fun again your horse is clearly very able so im sure shell help you out!best of luck, let us know ho it goes!!:)
The fact that you,ve written this thread show you really wan tto move on and jump higher so go for it and have fun!!!:D

Sounds like Cariad had fun :) Dont worry about the height your jumping, it will come as and when you feel like it, I just jumped Zak, started tiny and oneday I was in the school and aimed him at a 2'3 jump and just popped it, it felt right and I had my friend riding with me and another on the ground, and I would have most likely started jumping him higher, had he not have got injured:mad:

i have only just started jumping (ridden since i was tiny but we dont jump so never really did it) and my first jump was just under 2'6'' (measured against me then using tape measure at home)
me or the horse dont jump so it was a case of the blind leading the blind.
a jumps a jump it could of been 6 inches and i still would have been proud of it!
sometimes i look at a log or something and really want to jump it but if i was on the ground i would refuse! luckily blackie just carries on and does it so i can overcome it.
a couple of weeks ago i couldnt imagine leaving the ground that day so i just didnt and we went for a gallop instead :D

Well.. i had a period where i was the same wouldn't go over about 2-2'6 then i had a lesson with my friend who is a showjumper and by the end of my lesson i was jumping 3'9. I had to literally FORCE myself.. now i will jump ANYTHING if i feel the horse can do it and i mean anything, there aren't many jumps i'll say no to jumping on Lantern!
