Oh boy ...
Two weeks ago I had a lesson, after which my RI asked: "Do you want to do a Prelim test in two weeks?"
I thought she meant did I want to WORK ON a Prelim test .. Lucy & I have a LOT of trouble in canter and had never before managed more than three strides. That lesson I managed a sort of circle in canter, so I said "YEAH it's Time to work on a Prelim test!" and booked for 3.30 pm.
So I turned up for my lesson today (nearly 1.5 hour drive) ... only to find out it was not a Lesson but a COMPETITION! *facepalm* ... I had no competition gear! I was sooooo embarrassed, but both my RI and the judge thought it was so funny they let me go in anyway.
I wasn't sure I would remember the test as had only "sort of" learnt it, thinking it would be material for a lesson, so I got into the arena so nervous I could barely hold the reins!! And I rode like a floozy!
But I got some lovely walk & trot rhythmic strides every now and them ... and I got CANTER! And what a canter it was - we FLEW round the arena with no regard for corners or accuracy - Wheeeeee!!! Have to admit I stopped taking it seriously at that point and was very inattentive for the rest of the test :o .. Lucy thought it was all great fun of course!
Got my test sheet a few hours later and was AMAZED to find me had just over 66%!! We had a few Eights for walk & trot ... and two very generous Fours for the canter *lol* ... Considering I rode like such a Poo, I was rather stunned .. but thrilled, because I always like a me a pretty rosette! RI gave me LOADS of advice afterwards and I booked a proper LESSON for Monday in a week. I double checked to make sure it was really a lesson this time! What a twit I am!!
So here's the vid ... go on, have a laugh ... Long reins and painfully nervous shoulders. Note in particular the Krazy Kanter (I think I would have given myself a Two at best for that!) ... Wheeeeeeeeeeee! ... And my Last Minute salute at the end! I forgot to salute, twit that I am! So I made up for it with a HUGE salute :D :D.
Who said Dressage wasn't FUN?

And how could I not be thrilled with such a pretty rosette?
