Is there anything I should know about the breed? Why are your horse's legs so far back? Your horses are beautiful!!

OOOH!! yeh!! thats something that I have ALWAYS wanted to know!! Why do many American breeds of horse stand with their hind legs so far back like that? Its really weird.....like Morgans (beautiful, love them) and Saddlebreds?
Its intrigueing but odd

Cochise: A SSH is a special breed of gaited horse. They perform gaits like those of a TW, but the SSH is sometimes asked to gait faster.
New: This is called "parking out". We teach them to spread their front legs away form their back legs and push themselves forward. It is favored in the show ring, (don't ask me why) and is something that even the weanlings have learned. BTW, these aren't my horses, these are Debbie's studs, and yes, I agree, they are beautiful! Rock especially, that's my buddy! :D

Please correct me if I am wrong, but, didn't they start parking the gaited horses out so that the "ladies" could get on them easier back in the southern plantation days? Does anyone else know this for sure?
Katie_85= I see that Sonny's Dam is listed as Misty Twilight. Do you know if this the mare is from the famous Chincoteague pony Misty? Or is it just a different horse w/ a similar name? Just curious.
